40 Years of Showing Up for Kern County Families

For more than 40 years, ADAKC has been the heart of Alzheimer’s and dementia support in Kern County. Our Adult Day Program was a lifeline for hundreds of families, a place of dignity, connection, and care for people living with dementia and the loved ones who cared for them. That work mattered deeply, and its legacy lives in everything we do.

In May 2026, we are opening a new chapter. Responding to the changing landscape of dementia care funding and the growing, unmet needs of Kern County families, we are launching a dementia and Alzheimer's caregiver support hub. This is an expanded, countywide model built to reach families wherever they are, not just those who could come to us.

What We Do Now

  • Connect caregivers to resources, services, and expert guidance through one-on-one Care Navigation
  • Offer free and low-cost caregiver education workshops and training throughout the county
  • Build and support a countywide network of dementia-specific support groups
  • Train healthcare providers, faith communities, and first responders through our professional dementia training programs
  • Lead the Dementia-Friendly Kern County initiative to make our communities more compassionate and prepared

We are the only organization in Kern County solely dedicated to Alzheimer’s and dementia support. Our goal is to reach 1,500+ families per year, compared to the roughly 100 we could serve from a single location.

Your Give Big Kern gift helps us show up (in clinics, churches, libraries, and living rooms) for every Kern County family navigating one of life’s hardest journeys.
