Law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical workers, detentions and corrections officers, and emergency communications personnel face daily exposure to life-threatening situations, traumatic events, and high-stress environments.  Many work mandatory overtime shifts, on top of regular hours due to understaffing issues, which severely skews a desperately needed work-life balance.  First Responder departments and agencies across the nation are struggling with low morale and a recent surge in line-of-duty suicides.  Each one of these individuals deserves compassion, empathy, understanding, and the highest levels of culturally-competent support available.
