The air quality in Kern County ranks among the worse in the nation!

Since 1994, we have planted over 23, 000 trees to help clean our air, shade and beautify our local landscape along with improving the overall health and well-being of our citizens. 

We strive to educate tree professionals. homeowners and school children about the importance of trees and their proper care to help ensure a beautiful, healthy, urban forest for generations to enjoy.

Trees not only improve our air quality by absorbing carbons in the atmosphere and providing us with nice, fresh oxygen, they have many benefits that have been studied and verified.

The social benefits of trees are remarkable.  

• Trees planted in a shopping area actually result in people spending more money. They create a more relaxing atmosphere for people to linger and shop longer.
• Trees have very positive results when planted in neighborhoods with high crime rates.  Crime is reduced and the residents have greatly improved mental health.
• A hospital patient will require less medication and recover more quickly if their room has a view of a tree as opposed to those whose view may be a wall or another building.
• Trees provide us with shade, comfort, food, cooler temperatures, improved air quality and create wonderful memories. 
• Trees not only make people happy, they provide habitat for birds, insects, squirrels and other creatures.

The Tree Foundation of Kern and our many dedicated volunteers are proud to be the ones planting trees today for someone to sit under a long time from now.
