Kern Around the Clock Foundation will identify and educate clients, family, caregivers, community members, and healthcare providers for FREE. Clients are given the peace of mind that they are not alone and that there is an entire community willing to help. Through community resources, counseling, and training, clients are able to stay safer and longer in their home.
Kern Around the Clock Foundation is made up of two programs: Fall Prevention and the Payee Program. The goal of the Fall Prevention program is to conduct in-person home safety evaluations in the home of eligible, at-risk clients. The evaluation will be performed by a licensed therapist. Home safety evaluations will allow KATCF to assess client-specific needs such as: has the client had a past fall, at risk for future fall, has a medical condition or visual impairment that might contribute to a fall or injury, has unsteady gait or lacks assistive devices. The goal is to determine what is needed to prevent falls and promote safe mobility. Based upon evaluation findings, KATCF will determine educational needs, appropriate instruction for home safety, possible referral to outside agency (home health, hospice, outpatient, etc.), durable medical equipment needs, and home modifications.
The Representative Payee Program
In an effort to reduce or eliminate financial exploitation or mismanagement of funds, Kern Around the Clock Representative Payee Program offers financial management assistance to individual who's physical or mental limitations restricts their ability to manage their own money. The program offers budget assistance, bill payment services, money management and social service guidance. The Rep Payee Program's primary objective is to ensure that at risk individuals continue to receive their monthly benefits to pay for food, shelter and clothing. With their necessities paid, our claimants live as functionally independent and as comfortably as possible.
Kern Around the Clock Foundation is made up of two programs: Caregiver Training and Assistance and the Payee Program. The goal of the Caregiver Training Program is to bridge the gap in aide to family caregivers by providing counseling, training, respite and support to any caregiver that has need but may not be able to afford care. Our hope is to minimize some prerequisites to accessing care, that more caregivers who truly have financial or physiological need, no insurance or little to no income with health problems address their needs through education and respite. The program is FREE of charge and offered to residents of Bakersfield, Arvin and Lamont.
