Junior League of Bakersfield

A nonprofit organization

Empowering Women. Strengthening Community.

For more than 60 years, the Junior League of Bakersfield has been a driving force for positive change in Kern County—developing leaders, supporting nonprofits, and improving the lives of women and children throughout our community.

Who We Are

The Junior League of Bakersfield is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. We proudly support efforts that enhance the welfare of women and children across Kern County.

Our story began in 1952, when a group of women came together to create a new kind of volunteer organization, unrelated to schools and churches, called Community League of Kern County. In 1965, that vision became reality when the Junior League of Bakersfield was officially welcomed as the 202nd member of the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI).
