The Bakersfield Skateboard Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering Kern County youth through skateboarding, art, and music. Our mission is to create safe, positive spaces where young people can build confidence, develop skills, and feel connected to their community.

Through free skate camps, scholarships to YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake’s skate program, and year-round community events, we work to make skateboarding accessible to every kid who wants to participate, regardless of financial barriers. We believe skateboarding is more than a sport; it teaches resilience, creativity, discipline, and self-expression.

Our long-term vision is to expand opportunities for local youth through after-school skateboarding clubs and in-school art programs that use broken skateboard decks as a creative medium. Each year, we host our Broken Skateboard Community Art Event, where damaged decks are transformed into meaningful works of art by local students, artists, and families. This program promotes sustainability, creativity, and pride in our community.

Music is also central to our mission. We support and promote local concerts and are working toward bringing a large-scale music festival to Kern County that celebrates local talent while creating new opportunities for youth engagement and community connection.

We At the Bakersfield Skateboard Foundation, we believe skateboarding, art, and music are powerful tools for building healthier, more confident communities. With support from donors, sponsors, and community partners, we are creating pathways for young people to thrive while helping shape a stronger, more vibrant Bakersfield.
